      Sharon Ross

      Director/Nominated Supervisor and Teacher

      Sharon brings a wealth of experience to her roles as director, nominated supervisor and teacher at Hillsdon with more than 30 years’ experience in the early childhood field. Sharon has worked in the early childhood education sector in Western Australia, Jabiru in the Northern Territory and in Queensland and spent 13 years with C&K as an early childhood education consultant bringing her skills to more than 90 kindergartens across the state.

      In 2007, Sharon joined Hillsdon as director and full-time teacher and is now in her ninth year with our kindergarten. Sharon loves teaching kindergarten children as it offers her a window into their world and she enjoys seeing their confidence and resilience grow during their time at Hillsdon. Sharon relishes conversations with the children as she believes they provide opportunities for all of us to learn as well as being truly delightful.

      Qualifications: Bachelor of Education, Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood)

    • Kathryn Saxby

      Kathryn has been working in the early years’ education sector since 2009 and joined Hillsdon in 2013. She thoroughly enjoys planning and facilitating a play-based curriculum that is meaningful for children and incorporates their thoughts and opinions as well as the essential components of the curriculum.  She believes early childhood is such a beautiful age in a child’s life and she loves listening to their ideas. Kathryn also derives a great deal of satisfaction from developing partnerships with the children and their families.

    • Jane Simpson

      Jane joined Hillsdon Kindergarten in 2017. She previously spent a year working as an inclusion support assistant at C&K Coorparoo Community Kindergarten. Jane was an upper-primary teacher in London before moving to Australia in 2005. When considering a return to teaching, Jane decided to update her qualification and focus on Early Years Teaching. Jane believes early childhood is a special time in a child’s life when they make sense of their world. She loves working with kindergarten children and finds their natural enthusiasm and joy for learning inspiring. She finds it highly rewarding to work in partnership with families to support and extend each child’s strengths and interests.

      Qualifications: Masters of Education (Early Childhood), Postgraduate Certificate of Education, Bachelor of Science, PhD (Molecular Biology)

      Teacher’s Assistant

      Diane began working at Hillsdon in the year 2000 having previously taught music programs in primary and high schools throughout Brisbane, and was also a director and teacher at a Caboolture kindergarten following her graduation from Teacher’s College. Diane loves engaging with children and sharing in their curiosity, honesty and humour. She also finds it immensely rewarding to watch them grow, develop and learn.

      Qualifications: Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood) and a registered teacher

      Lorraine began working at Hillsdon in 2014 having previously worked as a teacher’s assistant at Gan Gani kindergarten for six years. She loves the trust that exists in the relationship between a teacher and a child and the way children are so honest, open and full of wonder for life. Lorraine believes that children can teach us so much and that the rewards and special moments she shares with the children are the best rewards for her hard work. She loves it when children cannot wait to show her their work or when they move through a beautiful routine in yoga or meditation.

      Qualifications: Certificate III (Education Support), Diploma in Early Childhood, Community Services, Teacher Training Yoga for Kids (Levels 1 and 2)

      Susan Pope

      Teacher's Assistant

      Susan began working at Hillsdon Kindergarten in 2012 as a housekeeper after her two daughters attended Hillsdon. She now works as a Teacher’s Assistant in the Unit 2 Three Day Group, alongisde Sharon Ross who taught both of her girls. Susan delights in engaging with children and watching them grow and learn as they become more confident in their abilities. She believes early childhood is a magical time to be cherished and nurtured.

      Qualifications: Bachelor of Science, Currently studying Certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care

    Blue Card

    Our staff hold a current Blue card under the Working with Children Check issued by the Blue Card Services, Public Safety Business Agency.


    First Aid

    Our teachers and assistants have current Senior First Aid Certificates including Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management and CPR Certification is renewed annually.
